Wrexham's nine-game unbeaten run came to an end in Yorkshire, as it fell to a 2-0 defeat against Hull City at the MKM Stadium.
Kyle Joseph opened the scoring after just ten minutes, as he managed to fire home on the rebound from close-range to give the Tigers a one-goal lead at the interval.
Despite heading into the break a goal behind, Nathan Broadhead won a penalty after 55 minutes, but Kieffer Moore’s strike from 12-yards was saved by Ivor Pandur.
Oli McBurnie sealed all three points for the hosts in the second half, sliding home to ensure victory in Yorkshire.
The Red Dragons named an unchanged XI from the side who drew with Preston North End at the weekend, as Phil Parkinson’s side looked to extend their impressive unbeaten run.
Hull City came into their second successive home fixture looking to make amends, having lost heavily against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Wrexham got proceedings underway, but neither side could create any major early chances of note in the opening stages at the MKM Stadium.
That would all change in the tenth minute, though. Mohamed Belloumi did well to carry the ball down the right side and drilled a ball towards the back post which was initially struck by Matt Crooks.
Crooks’s effort was saved by Arthur Okonkwo initially, but Kyle Joseph was alert to the rebound and made no mistake at firing home from point-blank range to break the deadlock.
Kieffer Moore almost found the perfect response just six minutes as a loose clearance bounced back into the Cymru international’s path, but his shot dragged just wide of the post.
The visitor looked to try and settle into the match from that point, but aside from a few promising advances forward, chances were very much few and far between.
Max Cleworth made a smart block to deny Joel Ndala from close range in the 31st minute, outstretching his right foot to avert the danger.
Ndala yet again had another chance to double the lead after 35 minutes. Crooks did well to drill a pass across goal, but Cleworth did enough again as Hull’s number 19 couldn’t get his feet right under pressure.
Okonkwo was called into action yet again just a minute later, and the Red Dragons’ keeper was alert to push his low effort away, as Dan Scarr cleared the danger.
Despite not hitting the heights which would have been expected, Wrexham headed into the interval with a one-goal deficit against the Tigers.
Scarr was replaced by Callum Doyle during the break, as Parkinson’s side looked to try and find a reaction in Yorkshire.
Broadhead came close to balancing the scores after 53 minutes from distance, but the Cymru international saw his effort blocked and the subsequent corner dealt with.
Just seconds later, Wrexham’s number 33 produced a moment of brilliance to step past Crooks with the ball at his feet before being brought down in the box to win a penalty.
Moore stepped up to take the penalty kick, but Ivor Pandur managed to guess the direction and shifted across goal to push the forward’s effort away during a key moment of the match.
Wrexham was handed yet another blow after 67 minutes, as Hull City doubled its lead through substitute Oli McBurnie.
Ryan Giles slid the forward through from the left, and McBurnie was quick to produce a moment of instinctive finishing.
He extended his leg at pace to meet the ball under pressure and fire into the bottom corner, despite mounting pressure from Dom Hyam.
The visitor tried its best to find a way back into the match, but it wasn’t to be as the Red Dragons’ unbeaten run came to an end in Yorkshire.
