Brugge breezes past Besiktas with five-star win
Club Brugge made light work of Besiktas in their UEFA Europa Conference League clash, thrashing the Turkish side 5-0 in its own back yard to take control of Group D.
Casper Nielsen set the tone in the fourth minute with a swerving long-range strike that hit the back of the net to set the Belgian side on its way.
Igor Thiago was next to score in the 14th minute, and when he added his second and Brugge's third just 26 seconds into the second half, Besiktas folded like a house of cards.
Raphael Onyedika added a fourth four minutes later and Andreas Skov Olsen made it 5-0 with more than 20 minutes remaining as the boos rang out across Besiktas Park.
With 10 shots on target from 13 attempts, Besiktas was thankful to goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu for making sure it wasn't a more thorough humiliation, while up front, former AC Milan forward Ante Rebic suffered another miserable night, blasting arguably Besiktas's best chance of the game well off target from inside the box before being substituted early as his underwhelming stay in Turkiye continued.
