Amorim plans Garnacho discussions
Alejandro Garnacho walked straight down the tunnel after being substituted in the first half against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.
Ruben Amorim confirmed that he will speak to Alejandro Garnacho after the Manchester United attacker stormed down the tunnel after he was taken off against Ipswich Town.
Garnacho did not last the first half on his return to United's starting XI, with Amorim subbing the Argentine off after Patrick Dogu was shown a straight red card at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
While he briefly acknowledged Amorim after being replaced by Noussair Mazraoui, Garnacho then went straight down the touchline to the dressing room.
After attempting to brush off Garnacho's behaviour in the post-match press conference, Amorim did eventually acknowledge he would speak to the youngster.
"I'm going to talk, obviously, with Garnacho about that," said Amorim. "So I will talk about that if you want in the next press conference."
Garnacho's relationship with Amorim has been one of interest since he was dropped for their 2-1 victory over Manchester City in December alongside Marcus Rashford.
While Garnacho managed to fight his way back into the fold, Rashford later left on loan to Aston Villa in the winter transfer window.
When pressed on why Garnacho walked straight down the touchline, Amorim said: "You are making a connection with Rashford, right?
"It was cold and wet, maybe? The thinking was we'd play more in the 5-3-1. I know that is a risk because you are taking one – maybe the only player who has one against one pace – but I felt the team was OK in the controlling of the game, almost half-time, then you make the substitution.
"We have to choose someone to go out, we have to think about set pieces also, so it was Garnacho."
United face Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round in their next outing, while the victory over Ipswich lifted them to 14th in the Premier League.
