Cincinnati Bengals Sign Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase at Joe Burrow's Request
The Cincinnati Bengals have retained their star receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, both with a four-year contract worth $161 million and $115 million, respectively. With $161 million, or $40.25 million per season, Chase becomes the highest-paid non-quarterback player in NFL history.
Ja'Marr Chase: The Offensive Leader
Ja'Marr Chase is the most recent winner of the Triple Crown. In the 2024 season, he finished as the leader in receptions with 127, receiving yards with 1,708, and touchdown receptions with 17. As for Higgins, his $115 million, or $28.75 million per season, places him among the highest-paid receivers in the league.
This duo of receivers is considered the most fearsome in the NFL, not only for their quality but also for their youth. Chase, the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year, is 25 years old; Higgins, national champion with the Clemson Tigers in 2018, is 26 years old.
Ja'Marr Chase joined the Bengals as the first-round pick in the 2021 Draft, and since then, he has been named All-Pro in 2024 and a four-time Pro Bowl player. In four years with the team, always surpassing 1,000 yards, he has tallied 395 receptions for 5,425 yards and 46 touchdowns.
Tee Higgins, drafted in the second round of the 2020 Draft, has accumulated 330 receptions for 4,595 yards and 34 touchdowns.
The Bengals' Offense Under Joe Burrow's Command
Both have been the main weapons in the Bengals' offense, led by quarterback Joe Burrow, who is the second-highest-paid QB in the NFL with $55 million per year, just behind Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys, who earns $60 million per season.
The investment the Cincinnati Bengals have made in these three players, out of the 53 on their roster, is $124 million per year, which accounts for 44.7% of their salary cap: $55 million for Burrow, $40.25 million for Chase, and $28.75 million for Tee Higgins.
