Eagles Celebrate Super Bowl Victory Amid Cheers and Insults Directed at Mahomes and Taylor Swift
The Philadelphia Eagles celebrated their Super Bowl LIX victory this Friday with a massive parade through the streets of the city. Thousands of fans gathered to cheer on their idols, while also taking the opportunity to mock and criticize Patrick Mahomes, quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Taylor Swift, pop star and partner of Travis Kelce.
The celebration kicked off with a parade led by team owner Jeffrey Lurie, starting at Broad Street and concluding at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, next to the iconic Rocky Balboa statue. The players were welcomed with chants, banners, and expressions of admiration, but the rivalry with the Chiefs was evident. Among the most striking acts, some fans roasted a pig, adding a wig to resemble Mahomes and engraving the number 15 on its side.
The provocations didn’t stop there, as some players also joined in. Defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson wore a sweatshirt with an offensive message aimed at Taylor Swift’s fanbase, further fueling the controversy. Despite the heated moments, the festive atmosphere prevailed, with celebrations such as Grant Calcaterra smashing beer cans and drinking them in front of the roaring crowd.
Euphoria in Philadelphia: "We Did It for the Best Fans"
During the ceremony, Jeffrey Lurie thanked the fans for their support and promised that the team would fight for another Lombardi Trophy next season. Head coach Nick Sirianni recalled how he motivated his players back in December with the promise of winning the Super Bowl and celebrating with the city. Jalen Hurts, the game's MVP, highlighted that the team's defensive strength was the key to their victory.
The parade ended with a surprising moment when five police officers recreated the famous "Tush Push" play, one of the Eagles’ signature moves, earning cheers from the crowd. With this celebration, Philadelphia enjoyed its second championship parade in history, following the one in Super Bowl LII back in 2018.
