Russell Wilson Says He Joined The Giants to Lead Them to Success
Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson made it clear during his introduction with the New York Giants that his goal is to be the leader who brings the team back to the path of victory, both in the regular season and the playoffs.

"This team needs someone to lead them at every stage of the process, from the preseason to the key moments of the campaign. Being in New York is a great challenge and an incredible opportunity. This city breathes football, and this team has a history of success," said the 36-year-old quarterback.
A fresh start in the NFL
After winning Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks, Wilson signed a $10.5 million contract with the Giants for the 2025 season. His arrival aims to strengthen the offense of a team that comes from a disastrous season, finishing with a 3-14 record.
The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year 2020 award winner arrives determined to be the starting quarterback over Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito, making it clear that he will take on the leadership role.
"I'm here to be the starter. I'm ready to give it my all and take the lead. This will be my 14th year leading a team with players who have big aspirations. We all share the same goal: to win," he emphasized.
Wilson looks to move past recent struggles
Since being selected in the third round of the 2012 Draft, Wilson has been a key figure in the NFL. He led the Seahawks to two Super Bowls, winning XLVIII and losing XLIX. However, his career took a turn when he left Seattle in 2021 to join the Denver Broncos, where he failed to reach the playoffs in two seasons.
Last year, he had a brief stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers, whom he did help reach the postseason, but the team opted not to renew him for the 2025 season.
Now, with the Giants, Wilson aims to revitalize his career and, most importantly, help the team regain its winning identity.
"We need to work on our habits, our mentality, and build a culture of success. The most important thing is to give it our all and stay focused on the goal," he concluded.
With four Super Bowl titles in their history, the Giants hope that Wilson's experience will be the key to bringing them back to the NFL’s elite.
