Bronny James Opens Up About LeBron's Future
Bronny James has addressed the swirling rumors about his father LeBron James’s future with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Bronny made it clear that he is not involved in those discussions and is concentrating on his own development heading into his second NBA season. When pressed by reporters about LeBron’s plans amid a summer of speculation, Bronny said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t really pay attention to that stuff.”
The 20-year-old guard emphasized that conversations with his father rarely touch on LeBron’s career decisions. “We don’t really talk about that much, but I think when stuff like that does come up, he just tells me to not worry about it, not even pay attention to it. Just lock in to what you have going on right now, and that’s what’s going to get me better and keep me focused,” Bronny explained.
LeBron’s Future: Player Option and Uncertainty
LeBron James, now 41, has reportedly decided to opt in to his $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season, but his agent Rich Paul has made statements suggesting the Lakers need to prove their commitment to building a contender around him. This has fueled speculation about whether LeBron could seek a trade or potentially finish his career elsewhere if the Lakers do not meet his expectations.
Despite the media attention, Bronny remains largely insulated from the noise, focusing on preparing for summer league and his sophomore season. “I feel like this year I’ll be able to go out and play freely and know what I’m going to go out there and do for me and my teammates. I’m just really excited to be able to play nervous-free,” he said.
Father-Son Duo Makes NBA History
Last season, LeBron and Bronny became the first father-son duo to play together in NBA history, a milestone both have described as deeply meaningful. While LeBron’s future remains a topic of league-wide intrigue, Bronny is intent on making his own mark, regardless of what comes next for his father.
For now, the younger James is tuning out the speculation, taking his father’s advice to heart, and focusing on his own growth as a professional athlete.
