Brutal Criticism of Jayson Tatum During His Terrifying Injury in the Boston Celtics-New York Knicks Series
What was expected to be a season where Jayson Tatum would chase the NBA MVP award could end in catastrophic fashion, as the Boston Celtics star left the court yesterday unable to walk on his own. There’s no doubt the Celtics are facing a challenging moment with little time to react, and they may be without their best player of the past five years.
Tatum’s game has evolved to a point where he’s not just a scorer but also a reliable defensive player. Losing him would be the worst possible news for Boston, especially in a series where they trail the New York Knicks.
While many admire his performance, others are less impressed, as evidenced by the latest harsh criticism directed at Tatum.
Harsh Criticism of Jayson Tatum
FS1 analyst Colin Cowherd made these remarks before Game 4 of the 2025 NBA Playoffs on Monday night, where the Boston Celtics star suffered an injury in what was another tough loss for the team.
"I'm watching Tatum play for the Celtics, and it's like he's another banker at Deutsche. They've got like eight guys that can shoot threes," Cowherd said.
For many, claiming Tatum doesn’t add value to the team could be considered an outright “insult,” given all he has accomplished.
Before suffering what appears to be a serious injury, Tatum scored 42 points in the loss to the Knicks, making him the best player on the court for Boston.
While Tatum sometimes seems overly reliant on the three-point shot, this is also a product of the offensive system that Joe Mazzulla wants the team to implement.
The Boston Celtics are now down 3-1 against the New York Knicks, and their chances look bleak. Without Tatum, mounting a comeback in the series seems like a lost cause.
Amid all the bad news for the reigning NBA champions, one silver lining would be if the former Duke star’s injury doesn’t jeopardize his availability for the next season. For now, the Celtics aren’t done, and they’ll have a chance to turn things around with the players available, such as Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, or Derrick White, who has been vital to the team.
