Jahmal Harvey joins Most Valuable Promotions to begin his professional career
US Olympic talent Jahmal Harvey took a decisive step in his career by signing with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the promotion company led by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian. Harvey will make his professional debut on Friday, August 22, at the Most Valuable Prospects 14 event, to be held at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Harvey, 22, will face Peruvian Marcelo Del Aguila (5-1, 1 KO) in a six-round super featherweight bout (130 lbs). Del Aguila comes into the fight on a three-fight winning streak, including a first-round technical knockout last July.
An amateur career full of achievements
Born in Oxon Hill, Maryland, Harvey started boxing at the age of 13. His rapid rise led him to become a 10-time national champion, and in 2021 he won gold at the World Elite Championships, becoming the first American to do so since Demetrius Andrade in 2007.
At the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, he shone again with a gold medal, qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he reached the quarterfinals.
MVP's vision: building stars
Both Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian have expressed their enthusiasm for Harvey's arrival, whom they consider one of the most promising American male boxers of the last decade.
Harvey joins a roster of elite talent at MVP that includes Tamm Thibeault (Canadian amateur and Olympic world champion), Sa'Rai Brown-El (19-time national champion), Keno Marley (Brazilian Olympian), Nat “No Love” Dove (15-time national champion), and Alex Gueche (two-time national champion).
