McGregor Breaks His Silence After Injury: “The Devil Is Staring Me in the Face”
Conor McGregor shared an emotional message after suffering a first-round injury that ended his comeback fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329. The Irish superstar admitted he is in shock but promised fans he will return.
Conor McGregor's long-awaited return to the Octagon ended in heartbreaking fashion. The former UFC champion suffered an injury during the opening round of his fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329 in Las Vegas, resulting in a first-round TKO defeat.
Shortly after the event, the 37-year-old Irishman took to social media to express his disappointment. "I'm in shock over what happened. I was in incredible shape and fully prepared for this fight. I still can't believe it," McGregor wrote, insisting he had entered the bout in peak physical condition.
The Irish superstar also addressed criticism from analysts, stating that he felt calm, confident, and completely ready before stepping into the cage. However, an injury suffered during his opening attack abruptly ended his comeback and left fans stunned.
In one of the most emotional parts of his statement, McGregor turned to his faith for strength. "The devil is literally staring me in the face. I'm not going to engage. I'll be in church tomorrow," he wrote before ending with a message of determination: "I'll overcome this. I won't let it discourage me. I'll be back."
Before the fight, both McGregor and his coaching staff had expressed confidence that he was ready to begin a new chapter in his legendary career. Instead, the night ended with another setback, dropping his professional record to 22 wins and seven losses. MMA fans now await official updates on the severity of his injury and when "The Notorious" will be able to compete again.
