Pet Suanluangrodyok Banks on Youth Over Experience at ONE Friday Fights 165

  • Pet Suanluangrodyok has gone through some initial setbacks inside ONE Championship, but the teenage sensation has clearly found his rhythm at just the right time.

A Rising Star Finds His Rhythm

Pet enters this Friday's battle on a three-fight winning streak, highlighted by a major upset over fellow rising prospect Adam Sor Dechapan, the younger brother of current ONE Strawweight Interim Muay Thai World Champion Aliff Sor Dechapan.

That hard-fought victory came by split decision, but for the 19-year-old Thai prodigy, the result mattered less than what he took away from the experience.

"I learned a lot about technique and speed, plus dealing with strikes I had never seen before, like spinning back fists and flying knees," Pet said. "I feel like I throw a lot more punches now, and my overall striking has become much cleaner."

A Seasoned Veteran Awaits

That growth will be put to the test immediately as Pet steps into the main event of ONE Friday Fights 165 against Petninmungkorn.

The 28-year-old veteran is undefeated in ONE Championship with a six-fight winning streak of his own, and he enters this strawweight Muay Thai clash boasting a professional record of 66-21.

A Seasoned Veteran Awaits

Petninmungkorn brings experience, composure, and a well-rounded game built over years inside the ring. Although Pet knows he has a tough task ahead, the young sensation believes he has pinpointed exactly where the fight will be decided.

"His main strength is definitely his hands, and he has a lot of heart. He just doesn’t give up easily," Pet explained. "Where I have the advantage right now is in my youth and fresh energy."

A Career-Defining Opportunity

Both fighters are chasing the same life-changing prize: a $100,000 contract and a permanent spot on the ONE Championship global roster.

For Pet, the opportunity carries extra weight, as becoming the first fighter to hand Petninmungkorn a defeat inside ONE Championship—and even more so by stoppage—would be the kind of statement impossible to ignore.

"My plan is to press forward and wear him down, but I also have to respect whatever he brings to the table. I don't want to rush in recklessly, so I'll adapt on the fly based on what he throws at me," he said. "I'm looking for a stoppage just like in my last fight. I'm going to bring my entire arsenal."
