Nightmare for the MotoGP Champion After Another Terrifying Crash in Qatar
Jorge Martín suffered a spectacular crash during the Qatar Grand Prix that resulted in a fracture of up to 11 ribs
The Qatar Grand Prix of MotoGP was meant to be a turning point in the season for Jorge Martín, the reigning world champion after winning the title in 2024, who had yet to make his debut due to two previous injuries. However, this nightmare seems far from over after he suffered another terrifying crash on the Lusail circuit during Sunday’s race.

The same nightmare repeats for Jorge Martín
The incident occurred with just nine laps remaining in the Qatar Grand Prix, which once again saw his fellow countryman Marc Márquez crowned champion after a spectacular race. That wasn’t the case for Jorge Martín, who misjudged a curve and went straight to the ground. A maneuver that left him completely knocked out on the Lusail asphalt.
With great difficulty, Jorge Martín managed to get up before the medical team arrived to assist him. A first examination quickly detected a pneumothorax, as later reported by Aprilia. However, after spending the night hospitalized at Hamad General Hospital, new reports revealed much more serious injuries.

In the press release issued by Aprilia’s communications team, the following updates were given on Jorge Martín’s condition: “Jorge Martín spent the night at Hamad General Hospital. There is no evidence of traumatic changes in the brain, cervical spine, or abdominal organs. However, there is an update on the rib fractures: eight posterior rib fractures, from the first to the eighth ribs, and three lateral rib fractures, from the seventh to the ninth.”
In addition to all these fractures, there is also “a minimal pleural effusion in the context of the pneumothorax,” and therefore, Jorge Martín will need to remain hospitalized for several days at Hamad International Hospital to accurately assess the extent of his multiple injuries. “I thank God because this could’ve been much worse. I’ll try to keep you all updated,” Jorge Martín said on his Instagram account.
