Eli Manning One Step Away from the NFL Hall of Fame
Eli Manning, the only quarterback in NFL history to defeat Tom Brady in two Super Bowls, is among the 15 finalists vying for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2025.
Manning handed Brady, the record-holder with seven Lombardi trophies, two of the three losses he suffered in NFL title games. Eli defeated Tom in Super Bowl XLII, when the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots 17-14, and again in Super Bowl XLVI, where the Giants triumphed 21-17 over the Pats.
The former quarterback seeks to join his brother Peyton Manning, a champion of Super Bowls XLI and 50 with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos, respectively, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
The Hall of Fame, located in Canton, Ohio, was inaugurated on September 7, 1963, and honors the legends of the sport. Of the 15 finalists, only five will achieve induction into the hall of immortals.
In addition to Manning, notable finalists include Adam Vinatieri, the legendary kicker for the Patriots and Colts, and Darren Woodson, a safety for the Dallas Cowboys who won three NFL championship rings. Other finalists include Jared Allen, Antonio Gates, Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, Luke Kuechly, and Steve Smith Sr.
The 2025 Hall of Fame class will be announced on February 6 during the 'NFL Honors' ceremony, where the league will also recognize the best players of the 2024 season.
