Coello and Tapia Reign in Doha in The Premier Padel
The Ooredoo Qatar Major Premier Padel 2025 has crowned its kings and queens. In a thrilling and intense day of padel, Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia once again proved why they are the world number ones, clinching the first Major title of the year in the men's category. On the women’s side, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay delivered a stellar performance to capture their fourth title of 2025 and move closer to the top of the world rankings.
Coello and Tapia reaffirm their dominance in the men’s tour
The men’s final was a true battle of giants. Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán started strong, but the composure and experience of Coello and Tapia ultimately prevailed. After a tight first set decided in a tiebreak, the top-ranked pair took full control of the match to close it out with a 7-6, 6-2 scoreline in just over an hour and twenty minutes.

The first match point came from a moment of brilliance by Tapia, and the second from an unforced error by Chingotto. For Coello, this title in Doha is a significant confidence booster: “I’m really happy to win again, and thanks to Agus for this.” Tapia emphasized their teamwork: “It wasn’t easy to win, but with this team, everything feels easier. Thanks to everyone supporting me from Catamarca.”
This victory marks their second title of the season after their win at the Riyadh Major, further cementing their status as the pair to beat in 2025.
Brea and Triay unstoppable in the women’s game
In the women’s draw, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay continued their incredible form, adding another trophy to their growing collection following wins in Gijón, Cancún, and Miami. The duo defeated world number ones Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría in straight sets, both ending 6-4.

In both sets, the top-ranked team had a 4-1 lead, but Delfi and Gemma fought back with intelligence and grit. “After being down 4-1, we started playing more focused, changed the pace, and that made the difference,” said Triay. For Brea, the win was especially meaningful: “This is my first Major and I’m so happy. We’re a team both on and off the court, and you could see that today.”
This triumph brings Delfi and Gemma within striking distance of the number one spot and confirms they are ready to challenge for the top position in the women’s tour.
