Martín Di Nenno: From Tragedy to the Top of Premier Padel
Argentine player Martín Di Nenno is now one of the biggest stars in professional padel, but his road to success has been shaped by an incredible story of resilience. At just 18 years old, Di Nenno was involved in a car accident in 2016 that changed his life forever.
The Accident That Changed His Life
The tragic crash occurred while he was on his way to Ezeiza airport with his friend and teammate, Elías Estrella, and another companion. Their vehicle collided head-on with a bus. Estrella and the other passenger lost their lives instantly, while Di Nenno suffered severe injuries to both legs.
Returning to Padel and Overcoming Adversity
After the accident, doctors gave his family a discouraging prognosis: the fractures in his femur and kneecap could prevent him from ever playing professional padel again. However, the young athlete never lost hope. He endured a long and painful rehabilitation process, during which he had to relearn how to walk. Despite the challenges, his passion for the sport that had been part of his life since childhood kept him going.

Through sheer determination and hard work, he managed to return to the court and, over time, regained his competitive level. Partnering with Paquito Navarro, he reached the final of the Vigo Open in 2021, a milestone in his career. That same year, he achieved glory by winning the Barcelona Master, marking his triumphant return to the sport.
Martín Di Nenno’s Present and Future
Now 27 years old, Di Nenno is one of the most charismatic and talented players on the professional circuit. He reached third place in the world rankings of the International Padel Federation and currently holds the seventh spot. Partnering with Javi Garrido, he has proven that effort and passion can overcome any obstacle. Despite the lasting physical effects of his accident, the Argentine star has refused to let pain stop him, continuing to compete at the highest level.

Among his recent achievements, Di Nenno finished third in the Premier Padel Tour Finals, won the Finland Premier Padel P2, and reached the finals of the Sevilla Premier Padel P2 in 2024. His story is a powerful reminder of resilience. What could have been the end of his career—or even his life—became the start of an inspiring journey of perseverance and triumph. Today, Martín Di Nenno is not only one of the biggest names in the world of padel but also a symbol of how determination can make the dream of a fresh start a reality.
