Women's Final Defined in Premier Padel Miami: Sánchez and Josemaría Aim for Their 39th Title
The match that couldn’t be played in Riyadh due to Bea González’s unexpected withdrawal finally took place in Miami, and in just one hour and seventeen minutes, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría showed why they continue to be the most dominant pair on the women’s circuit.
Reaction and top-level victory for Ari and Paula
The world number ones took advantage of this opportunity to make it clear to Claudia Fernández and Bea González that they still have a long way to go if they want to reach the top of the ranking. Sánchez and Josemaría started the match with a small setback, losing their serve, but quickly responded by winning six consecutive games to close the first set 6-1 in just 31 minutes.
Their comeback in the second set was even more impressive, as they turned around a 1-4 deficit to win 6-4, securing their place in the final. Paula Josemaría commented after the match: "We were able to turn it around because we put an extra gear in the second set," referring to the great reaction that led them to victory.
This Sunday, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría will fight for their 39th title as a pair, and their first in Miami, where they had already played a final in 2022, but on that occasion, they lost to Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar 6-2, 6-2.
Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea Continue to Shine
In the other semifinal, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea, coached by Rodri Ovide, had no trouble defeating Sofia Araújo and Martita Ortega 6-2, 6-2, extending their winning streak to three consecutive tournaments against the same rivals.
Triay and Brea gave no chances to their opponents and will now seek their third title of the season, after winning in Gijón and Cancún. They will face the pair that defeated them in Gijón, Sánchez and Josemaría, who currently hold the number one spot in the ranking, a position that Triay and Brea aim to claim by the end of the season.
A Top-Level Final in Miami
This Sunday, the Miami P1 will host the best possible women’s final: the world number ones, Ariana Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, will face the number one pair in the Race, Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea. This matchup has a precedent from the final of the P2 in Gijón, where Triay and Brea overcame a 0-6 deficit in the first set to win 0-6, 6-1, 6-4, claiming their first title as a pair.
The final promises to be a spectacular showdown between the two best teams in women’s padel, with Sánchez and Josemaría aiming for another trophy in their career, while Triay and Brea look to continue their exceptional form and close in on the top spot in the rankings.
