Unexpected Breakup: Juan Tello and Martin Di Nenno Split After Only Three Months
The Argentine duo that promised to establish themselves among the world's best have decided to go their separate ways ahead of the Premier Padel tournament in Tarragona.
An unexpected turn on the track
Less than a week before the start of the Premier Padel Tarragona P1, the professional circuit is shaken by the breakup between Juan Tello and Martín Di Nenno, an Argentine duo that had performed well since forming in April this year.
Both players have already announced their new partners: Di Nenno will play with Leo Augsburger and Tello will team up with Pablo Cardona.
“It was a difficult decision to understand.”
In a recent interview, Tello spoke frankly about his split with Martín Di Nenno, despite having reached three semifinals in just five tournaments:
“It was a decision that is still not fully understood... He decided to play with Augsburger. It's difficult, a little difficult to understand. But I support him, we'll face each other again later, for sure.”
Tello started 2025 with Tino Libaak, with whom he rediscovered his enthusiasm and returned to competing with confidence. His great performance caught the attention of Di Nenno, who contacted him to form a partnership. The decision was tactical:
"With Tino, I was very excited. But Martín offered me a direct entry into the top eight pairs. It wasn't about style or play, it was a strategic decision." Although Tello greatly valued his connection with Di Nenno, he admits that nowadays projects are too fleeting:
“Because of the nature of padel, projects don't last long... but I really enjoyed this period.”
The Pablo Cardona era: “What I value most is that he wants to improve.”
Tello's new project is alongside Pablo Cardona, a promising young left-hander. For the Argentine, the key is that they both train under the same technical team, led by Seba Nerone:
“I missed that, training together, with the same ideas. He lives in Madrid, we train every day. We've already played matches, there's a foundation. I've felt comfortable and really eager.”
Juan Tello is making his way with resilience in one of the most unpredictable seasons on the circuit. His split from Di Nenno left him with unanswered questions, but also with renewed energy. With Cardona as his new partner, he wants to return to where he belongs: competing among the best in the world.
