(VIDEO) Carlos Vela's Malibu Home Destroyed by California Wildfires
The devastating wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles, California, have left a trail of destruction, with Carlos Vela among those affected. The Mexican footballer’s home in Malibu, where he lived with his family, has been reduced to ashes after flames ravaged the area.
A Home Turned to Ashes
The tragic news was confirmed by Saioa Cañibano, Vela’s wife, who shared a shocking video on social media, revealing the remains of their home. "The day has come to face this moment," she wrote, alongside heartbreaking images showing the extent of the wildfire’s devastation. She also posted footage of other severely affected areas in Malibu, highlighting the magnitude of the disaster.
The wildfires, particularly aggressive in recent weeks, include major blazes such as the Hughes Fire, which has burned over 41 square kilometers, along with the Eaton and Palisades fires, which have been active for more than three weeks.
A Community in Crisis
Despite the tireless efforts of hundreds of firefighters, the flames became uncontrollable, destroying countless properties. For Carlos Vela’s family, the loss has been overwhelming, as their oceanfront home could not withstand the fire’s impact.
Heavy rains in the following days helped extinguish some fires but also caused landslides and mud accumulations, further complicating the situation for affected communities.
Carlos Vela has yet to make an official statement regarding the loss of his home, though his wife has openly shared their family's pain and disbelief over the tragedy. As Malibu and other affected areas begin to assess the damage, residents now face the challenging road to rebuilding what was lost.
