Almada Warns Real Madrid: "It Will Be an Eleven Against Eleven Match"
Uruguayan coach Guillermo Almada, coach of the Mexican team Pachuca, stated on Tuesday that in the Intercontinental Cup final against Real Madrid, "it's not about the names or history" and that "it will be an eleven against eleven match."
"We have to believe in our possibilities, we have the same number of players on each team, here it's not about the names or history. If we believe in ourselves, follow our dream, and play with our style, we could achieve that goal," he said.
"We come from a very busy schedule, but now we try to give everything we can in the match against Real Madrid. We’ve had very good games and hope to continue that path in the final. Beating Real Madrid would be a very significant achievement for us. We know it will be very tough, but we’ll try," Almada assured.
The Pachuca coach mentioned that he has no specific plans to stop players like Vinícius and Mbappé, especially because Real Madrid has many stars across all lines. He emphasized that what matters most is focusing on teamwork, securing the defense, and organizing on the field so that Pachuca can match the competitiveness of the European champions.
Almada also praised Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid's manager.
"Ancelotti is one of the most important coaches in football history, and we will try to ensure he is not the coach with the most titles (at Real Madrid) tomorrow, but that doesn’t take away from his merit of being one of the best," he emphasized.
