Arne Slot Rule Out Alexander-Arnold’s Move to Real Madrid
Slot emphasized that the English fullback is fully committed to the club and confirmed he will start in Sunday’s match against Manchester United at Anfield.
Real Madrid’s interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold won’t be enough to lure him away from Liverpool during the winter transfer window, head coach Arne Slot said in a press conference.
Alexander-Arnold’s Commitment
“I can assure you he will play on Sunday, and I expect him to maintain the level he showed in the first half of the season,” Slot said. “We all saw his fantastic performance against West Ham, especially that incredible pass to Mo Salah. Trent is 100% committed to us and works hard every day in training.”
The Dutch manager also addressed rumors linking Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid, denying they have impacted the player or the team. “If rumors destabilized our players, we would have a real problem. You play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, and that means people will talk about you all year round. I don’t think this has affected Trent or the team,” he added.
Liverpool Fully Focused on the Season
Liverpool remains steadfast in its plan to keep all key players for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. Leaders in the Premier League and favorites in the Champions League, the Reds are unwilling to lose a crucial figure like Alexander-Arnold. While the fullback has yet to renew his contract, the club is confident he will stay.
Slot also highlighted the 26-year-old’s defensive improvement, noting significant progress in his game: “He’s delivered outstanding performances in some matches, although he still needs more consistency. That’s where his biggest room for growth lies.”
Sunday’s match will be another test for Liverpool as they aim to solidify their dominance in the league and advance in Europe. Alexander-Arnold will remain a key player in those ambitions. For now, Real Madrid will have to wait.
