FC Barcelona is already considering offering Wojciech Szczesny a contract extension, even though the Polish goalkeeper has yet to make his official debut for the team. Szczesny joined Barcelona in October as a temporary replacement for the injured Marc-André ter Stegen.

Despite not having played any official matches, Szczesny’s professionalism and positive attitude have impressed the club’s management enough to discuss an additional one-year extension with him.

The former Juventus player, who came out of retirement to sign with Barça, has accepted his role as a backup to Iñaki Peña and has contributed significantly to the team’s harmony. His commitment during training sessions has been particularly praised.

Led by Deco, Barcelona’s sports management believes in the importance of maintaining three high-caliber goalkeepers, particularly in light of potential injuries or the possibility of Iñaki Peña leaving when his contract expires in 2026.

Financially, extending Szczesny’s contract would not pose a challenge for the club, though the final decision will depend on the player’s interest in continuing his career at the top level of football.
