Benfica Crush Tirsense 5-0 in First Leg of Taça de Portugal Semifinals
Sport Lisboa e Benfica took a commanding step toward the Taça de Portugal final with a resounding 5-0 win over FC Tirsense on April 9, 2025, in the first leg of the semifinals at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos.
Benfica opened the scoring in the 16th minute thanks to an own goal from Tirsense captain João Pedro, who deflected a cross from Samuel Dahl into his own net.
Just ten minutes later, promising youngster João Rego doubled the lead, finishing a well-constructed team move initiated by Florentino Luís and assisted by Andreas Schjelderup.
After the break, Benfica continued their attacking onslaught. Gianluca Prestianni, who came off the bench, made it 3-0 in the 67th minute, converting a clever assist from Schjelderup.
Arthur Cabral then fired in the fourth with a powerful strike following a pinpoint cross by Tiago Gouveia in the 72nd minute.
The night was capped off by Schjelderup himself, who added a deserved fifth goal in the 84th minute after a high press and recovery from Prestianni.
