Dele Alli heads to Italy with Fàbregas and Como
After almost two years of inactivity due to a combination of sporting and non-sporting issues, Dele Alli is about to begin a new chapter in his career. The English midfielder has found an opportunity to return to the pitch and showcase his talent with Cesc Fàbregas' Como.
The Italian team, currently 16th in Serie A, has placed its trust in the player. Alli has been training with the club since early 2025, and according to Fabrizio Romano, a deal has been finalized until 2026, with the option to extend for an additional season based on his performance.
However, during a press conference ahead of the match against Udinese, Como coach Cesc Fàbregas stated that the club is still evaluating Alli’s situation. “The club asked me to test him because it represents a good opportunity. From my point of view, he could play in Nico Paz's position, who is a key player for us,” said Fàbregas.
The coach also called for patience in the process: “There are many factors to consider, not just my opinion. We want to proceed cautiously with Dele Alli. We are here to support him and hope he can regain the level he showed in the past. I played against him many times, and he was an exceptional footballer.”
The former Tottenham and Everton player has been without a club since parting ways with the Liverpool-based team last summer. Although he continued training with the “Toffees” until the end of the year, he then decided to join Como, seeking an environment conducive to relaunching his career.
The question now is whether Alli can seize this new opportunity and regain the form that once positioned him as one of the brightest prospects in English football.
