In the opening match of Group K of the World Cup Qualifiers, England secured a 2-0 victory over Albania on home soil.
The goals for the Three Lions came from Myles Lewis-Skelly in the 20th minute and Harry Kane in the 77th, but it was Lewis-Skelly’s goal that made history.
A Historic Goal
With his strike, Myles Lewis-Skelly became the youngest-ever goalscorer in the history of the England national team, breaking Marcus Rashford’s previous record of 18 years and 209 days. Lewis-Skelly found the net at just 18 years and 176 days old.
This match also marked a successful debut for new head coach Thomas Tuchel, who began his tenure with a win.
On the Albanian side, Rey Manaj and Ernest Muçi did not feature in the game.
