Kyle Walker Joins Milan: Key Reinforcement for the Right-Back Position
Walker landed on a private flight from Manchester and is scheduled to undergo the necessary medical examination in the afternoon before signing a loan contract valid until the end of the season.
The Englishman Kyle Walker arrived in Italy on Thursday from Manchester City to finalize his loan move to Milan and strengthen the right-back position for the 'Rossoneri.'
Transfer Deal Includes Purchase Option
The management of Milan and Manchester City sped up negotiations in recent hours and reached a definitive agreement to complete the deal. According to local media, the agreement includes a purchase option for the Italian team worth approximately 5 million euros, which could be activated in the summer.
Walker’s arrival is a critical addition to one of the weakest areas of the squad coached by Portuguese Sergio Conceição, as neither Brazilian Emerson Royal nor Italian Davide Calabria has delivered the high-level performances expected of right-backs in a team aiming to compete for titles.
Emerson Stays After Injury
Emerson Royal, who had been in talks to join Turkey's Galatasaray, suffered an injury during Wednesday's Champions League match against Girona and will be sidelined for over a month. As a result, he is now expected to remain part of Milan's roster.
Once the contract is signed, Kyle Walker will join training under the guidance of Sergio Conceição. His debut could take place in a major showdown on February 2, in the 'Derby della Madonnina' against Inter Milan, Milan’s biggest rival.
