Real Madrid smiling as Courtois makes the squad for Arsenal clash in the Champions League
After missing Real Madrid’s last three games with muscle discomfort, Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is back in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the trip to face Arsenal in London this Tuesday (3:00 p.m. ET) in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. Both Ukrainian keeper Andriy Lunin and midfielder Dani Ceballos will miss out.
Ceballos gave it a shot during Sunday’s training session but didn’t recover in time from the hamstring injury he picked up on February 26.
More absences in defense and midfield
Also ruled out with muscle injuries are Ferland Mendy, who’s expected back for the return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu, and Lunin, who’s still dealing with right leg discomfort. Though he was named in the squad against Valencia on Saturday, he won’t make the trip to London. Long-term absentees Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão are still out with knee injuries, while Aurélien Tchouaméni is suspended due to yellow card accumulation.
