Who Will Win The Battle for The Pichichi? Mbappé vs Lewandowski
The race for LaLiga’s top scorer is heating up, and two global football stars are leading the charge: Kylian Mbappé and Robert Lewandowski. The French forward from Real Madrid made a strong statement by scoring a stunning hat-trick in El Clásico against Barcelona, surpassing the Polish striker in the scoring charts.

Although Los Blancos fell 4-3 on their visit to Camp Nou, Mbappé's three goals didn’t go unnoticed. Not only did they put him at the top of the scoring list with 27 goals, but he also broke a historic club record: he surpassed Iván Zamorano, who had scored 37 goals in his first season with Madrid back in the 1992-93 campaign. Now, the former PSG star has 39 goals in his debut season as a Madridista.
Meanwhile, Lewandowski has netted 25 goals in 31 league appearances but is currently facing a concerning goal drought. His last LaLiga goal came on March 30 against Girona, and he hasn’t found the net since. To make things worse, he missed five games due to a muscle injury suffered against Celta Vigo, hindering his quest to reach 100 goals with the Catalan club. The 35-year-old striker remains stuck at 99 goals in a Barcelona jersey.
Mbappé also shared an emotional message on social media after the loss: “Painful, but we’ll be back. Hala Madrid!” he wrote, alongside images thanking the traveling fans who supported the team. The post underlined his commitment and hunger to win, even in defeat.
Meanwhile, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona are on the verge of clinching the LaLiga title, holding a seven-point lead with just three matches left. But while the league trophy seems within reach, all eyes are also on the individual battle for the Pichichi — an honor both strikers are eager to claim.
Real Madrid will face Mallorca on Wednesday, May 14, while Barcelona will take on local rivals Espanyol on Thursday, May 15. In those matches, both Mbappé and Lewandowski will aim to add more goals and make their mark in what has already been a thrilling season.
