Xavi Hernández Puts Himself on the Market: Monterrey and Juventus, Take Note
Xavi Hernández gave an interview to ‘L’Equipe’ in which he confessed that he feels ready to return to coaching next season
Since leaving the bench at Barcelona last June after several disagreements with Joan Laporta, Xavi Hernández has kept a low profile with a clear premise: rest. However, in an exclusive interview with ‘L’Equipe’, he has put himself back on the market to take on a new challenge starting next season.

Xavi Hernández won’t coach until next season
During these months, Xavi Hernández’s name has come up for several major coaching positions in European football, such as Manchester United and Porto. However, he has always been clear that he wouldn’t take on any project this season. “Until June, I want peace. After that, we’ll see what the market has in store. But I think by then, I’ll be ready for a project that excites me to win.”
A statement of intent… which he reaffirmed by putting himself on the market starting in the summer: “I need to rest until June, and after that, I’ll listen to offers from clubs or national teams. I like challenges that motivate me. Whatever comes, it has to be a challenge that excites me and is aimed at winning titles,” said Xavi Hernández.
Juventus and Monterrey want Xavi Hernández
This interview comes amid rumors that are positioning his name as a candidate for the benches of two of the biggest clubs in Europe and America. On one hand, Juventus has Xavi Hernández on their list of candidates to take the reins of the project after the disappointing choice of Thiago Motta, his former teammate at Barcelona, who seems to have his days numbered in Turin.
On the other hand, ‘Sport’ revealed a few days ago that Xavi Hernández is the favorite option for Rayados de Monterrey to replace Martín Demichelis after their elimination in ConcaChampions. In fact, they report that the club wants to bring him in immediately to join several compatriots like Sergio Ramos, Canales, and Óliver Torres. So, we’ll see if Xavi sticks to his word… or takes on a new challenge before that.
