Nigeria Strike Late to Book Final Spot
Nigeria secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over South Africa in Tuesday’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semifinal, keeping alive their quest for a record-extending tenth title. The clash at Stade Larbi Zaouli delivered drama from start to finish, with late heroics and key moments shaping the outcome.

Banyana Banyana Fall Just Short
In the second half, South Africa responded with determination. Hildah Magaia drew a foul inside the area, leading to a penalty that Linda Motlhalo converted with confidence in the 60th minute, leveling the score and shifting momentum.
But just as extra time loomed, Alozie produced a moment of magic, unleashing a 35-yard strike that curled past Andile Dlamini to ignite celebrations among Nigerian players and fans.
The closing minutes were intense, featuring several injuries and yellow cards. Chinwendu Ihezuo was stretchered off, but Nigeria held firm through nine minutes of stoppage time to claim a spot in the final in Rabat.
Still unbeaten in the tournament, the Super Falcons enter the championship match full of confidence. Meanwhile, South Africa will regroup to fight for third place after falling short in their title defense.
