The Blaugranas will play two friendly matches against a Liga MX Femenil All-Star team and Club América Femenilon August 22 and 24, respectively.
Barcelona Femení Returns to Mexico for the Third Consecutive Year
It’s becoming a tradition for Barcelona Femení to visit Mexico as part of their preseason preparations. For the third consecutive year, the Catalan club has confirmed their participation in the “Barça on Tour 2025”, scheduled from August 19 to 25.
The North American country, known for its strong women’s football tradition, will host two friendly matches and also serve as the venue for institutional and commercial events organized by the club.
Two Matches Featuring the Best of Mexican Women Football
The first match will take place on August 22 in Monterrey, where Barça will face a Liga BBVA MX Femenil All-Star team. The game will be held at UANL Stadium, which has a capacity of 42,000.
The second game is scheduled for August 24 at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City, where Pere Romeu’s side will take on Club América Femenil. The opposing squad features two former Barça players: goalkeeper Sandra Paños and forward Bruna Vilamala.
This will be the second encounter between the two clubs, following their August 2023 clash at the Estadio Azteca, where Barcelona claimed a 2-0 victory in front of over 35,000 fans, setting the record for the highest attendance at a women’s friendly in Mexico.
Mexico: A Key Market for Barcelona Femení
Beyond the sporting aspect, the tour organized by Soccer Media Solutions will include institutional and promotional events, with the schedule still to be finalized.
Mexico has become a strategic territory for Barcelona Femení, both commercially and in the context of women's football. In recent years, several Blaugrana players have made a significant impact in the Liga MX Femenil, including Jenni Hermoso, Andrea Pereira, and Andrea Falcón. Mexico has also contributed talent to the club since Maribel Domínguez paved the way in 2005, followed by Patty Pérez, Kenti Robles, and Pamela Tajonar.
There’s no doubt it will be an exciting opportunity to watch Barça Femení showcase their talent and to witness the quality of the players competing in Mexico’s top women’s league.
