Julián Quiñones receives a champion’s welcome in Saudi Arabia after his role with Mexico at the World Cup
Al Qadsiah prepared a special welcome
The Saudi club organized a welcome for one of its main attacking stars after his outstanding performance with Mexico.
Upon arriving at the airport, Quiñones interacted with fans, signed photographs and received numerous displays of recognition before reuniting with his team.
A group of children waited for the Mexican forward with large-format images, while Al Qadsiah placed a special sign in one of the hallways to highlight his performance at the World Cup.
“Great to have you back, Panther. The historic hero of the first World Cup goal is back in Al Khobar,” the club posted on social media.
A World Cup that transformed his return
The forward scored four goals in five matches and managed to find the net in nearly every stage played by Javier Aguirre’s team.
Quiñones opened his account against South Africa in Mexico’s debut and scored again against the Czech Republic in the final group-stage match.
His scoring run continued in the knockout rounds, where he found the net against Ecuador in the Round of 32 and against England in the Round of 16, the match that brought Mexico’s campaign in the tournament to an end.
A place among Mexico’s top World Cup scorers
With his four goals, the Al Qadsiah player matched the highest total ever recorded by a Mexican player in a single edition of the World Cup.
Luis Hernández had reached that mark at France 1998. Javier Hernández also scored four World Cup goals, although he achieved the total across his appearances in 2010, 2014 and 2018.
His great run began before the World Cup
The Mexican forward became the Saudi Pro League’s top scorer after netting 33 goals in 31 matches.
His end-of-season run included a hat-trick against Al Ittihad, and his goals helped Al Qadsiah complete a 22-win campaign.
After topping the scoring charts and carrying his strong form into the Mexico National Team, Quiñones returns to the club with greater international exposure and the challenge of maintaining the level that made him one of the standout figures of 2026.
