Saudi Pro League responds to Cristiano Ronaldo as his future comes into question
Until recently, Cristiano Ronaldo was fully focused on reaching the historic milestone of 1,000 career goals. That picture has shifted after the former Real Madrid star refused to play for Al Nassr, a protest that has already sparked consequences within Saudi football.

Saudi Pro League stance on Cristiano Ronaldo’s protest
According to statements reported by the BBC, the Saudi Pro League is unwilling to give in to Ronaldo’s stance, a position that could seriously jeopardize his future in the competition.
“Like any elite athlete, Cristiano wants to win. But no individual, no matter how important, makes decisions outside of his own club,” the league was quoted as saying by the BBC.
"Clubs have their own board of directors, their own management, and their own football management. They determine their own transfer strategy."

What is behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s strike?
While the Portuguese forward has not spoken publicly, Portuguese media outlet A Bola reports that his frustration is linked to the management fund that oversees Al Nassr and other clubs — a structure Ronaldo reportedly believes has not been fair.
Within that same context, league leaders Al Hilal recently added Karim Benzema, who made a striking debut with a hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Al Okhdood.
