Why Was the Start of the 2026 Ballon d'Or Ceremony Delayed?

The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, one of the most important events on the international soccer calendar, could not begin as scheduled due to traffic problems in London.
The ceremony was originally scheduled to start on Monday, October 26, at 8:00 PM local time at the London Palladium. However, severe traffic congestion made it difficult for several players, guests, and prominent figures to reach the venue.
According to information published by Sports Illustrated, organizers were forced to adjust the starting time to allow attendees to enter the theater.
The delay was not caused by technical difficulties or changes to the awards program, but rather by transportation issues across the British capital.
