Will Neymar Leave Santos? The Brazilian Star Breaks His Silence After Clashing With a Fan
Neymar Jr., who returned to Santos FC at the beginning of 2025 after a long injury spell during his time at Al-Hilal, has sparked doubts about his future at the Brazilian club. In a strong message shared on social media, the forward left the door open to a potential exit, depending on the opinion of the fans.
Facing Criticism: Neymar Responds
On Wednesday night, following a 2-1 home defeat to Internacional at Vila Belmiro, Neymar had a heated argument with a supporter in the stands. The result was another blow to a struggling Santos side fighting to avoid relegation. Neymar didn't stay silent and addressed the situation publicly.
"I came to Santos to help, but if the fans think I’m no longer contributing or that I'm hurting the club, I’ll be the first to leave," declared the former Barcelona and PSG player. Despite the pressure, Neymar reaffirmed his commitment: "As long as I have the strength, I’ll run, fight, and shout for this badge."
Since his return, Neymar has played only 15 official matches, scoring four goals and providing three assists. In the Brazilian league, he has appeared in just seven games and scored only once—numbers far below the expectations surrounding his comeback.
Neymar Caught Between Passion and Controversy
The striker admitted he cannot tolerate personal attacks like those received during the last match. "I will never argue over performance-related criticism. But I won’t accept being called a mercenary or having my family insulted. Sorry, but I’m human, and sometimes it’s hard to control myself," he explained.

Interestingly, the fan he clashed with later apologized, acknowledging he let his frustration get the better of him.
With a little over a month left before Carlo Ancelotti announces Brazil’s final squad for the last rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Neymar still has time to regain form and make his case. Brazil will face Chile at the Maracanã and travel to Bolivia for their final matches.
For now, tension continues to rise in Santos, caught between poor results, sky-high expectations, and emotional outbursts. Could this be Neymar’s final chapter with the club that launched his career? Only time—and the fans—will tell.
