Xavi Simons Joins Leipzig in a Permanent Transfer from PSG
Paris Saint-Germain has officially confirmed the sale of Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig, ending the young Dutch forward’s ties with the club. Simons, who had been on loan at the German side, will remain in the Bundesliga after completing a permanent move worth between €30 and €50 million, according to L'Équipe.
Simons’ departure was crucial for PSG to free up a loan spot, allowing Milan Skriniar to join Fenerbahce on loan. This move is part of PSG’s efforts to restructure their squad and generate funds during the final stretch of the transfer window.
A product of FC Barcelona's youth system, Simons joined PSG at just 16 years old but played only 11 matches for the club. In 2022, he was sold to PSV Eindhoven, where he excelled, scoring 22 goals in 48 matches. PSG then activated a buy-back clause in 2023 before loaning him out to Leipzig.
During his time in Germany, the Dutch playmaker has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, prompting Leipzig to secure his permanent transfer. At just 21 years old, Simons will continue his development in the Bundesliga, where he has already shown great potential.
With this sale, PSG continues its squad restructuring strategy after also loaning Randal Kolo Muani to Juventus. Meanwhile, Simons embarks on a new challenge at Leipzig, aiming to further his growth and establish himself as a top player in European football.
