Al Hilal Stuns MC Alger to Remain Unbeaten in the CAF Champions League
Sudanese side Al Hilal secured a stunning 1-0 victory over MC Alger in Algiers on Saturday night, maintaining their flawless start in the group stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League. With this result, the Sudanese team solidifies its lead in Group A.
The match was marked by intensity and balance, but a decisive header from Guessouma Fofana in the 76th minute made the difference. The goal came from a free kick delivered by Mohamed Abdelrahman, who provided a precise assist for Fofana's clinical finish.
MC Alger desperately sought an equalizer, but goalkeeper Issa Fofana was outstanding, denying every attempt by the Algerian side. With this win, Al Hilal now has nine points and comfortably sits at the top of the group, while MC Alger remains second with four points.
In another Group A clash, TP Mazembe and Young Africans (Yanga) played out a 1-1 draw in Kinshasa. Mazembe took the lead in the 41st minute with a goal from substitute Cheick Fofana, who had entered the match just minutes earlier. However, Yanga managed to salvage a valuable point with a last-minute equalizer.
Prince Dube was the hero for the Tanzanian side, scoring in the 94th minute. His composure in front of the goal allowed Yanga to level the score and stay in the race to advance in the competition. With this result, Mazembe and Yanga remain further down the standings, while Al Hilal establishes itself as the group favorite.
