JS Kabylie holds on for a draw against Young Africans in the CAF Champions League
Awaiting the result of Al Ahly’s away match against AS FAR, JS Kabylie secured their first point of the 2025–2026 CAF Champions League after a 0-0 draw against Young Africans.
Full Highlights
This result tightens the race in Group B of the CAF Champions League, with the Tanzanian champions reaching four points, while the Algerian side now has one point they will hope to capitalize on as the Group Stage continues.
After a heavy defeat in their opening match against Al Ahly, JS Kabylie aimed to bounce back at home in Tizi Ouzou, pushed by strong fan support. However, Josef Zinnbauer’s squad once again showed inconsistencies in a match where a draw was ultimately the fairest outcome.
Far from sitting deep, Young Africans (Yanga) showed courage, starting with intensity and adapting well to the hostile environment. JSK goalkeeper Mohamed Hadid was forced into action early to deny a dangerous free-kick effort.
For the hosts, captain Zineddine Belaid had the best opportunity, hitting the crossbar with a header shortly after the 15-minute mark. Poor finishing in the final third once again hurt JS Kabylie, who failed to seriously threaten goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.
After a goalless first half, the second 45 minutes offered even fewer chances. JS Kabylie only showed urgency in stoppage time, generating several set-piece opportunities that lifted the home crowd. Still, Diarra delivered a stunning double save to preserve the 0-0 draw and secure a valuable point for Yanga, who now sit with four points in the CAF Champions League Group B standings.
Group B action will resume in late January. JS Kabylie will be under pressure to earn a must-win result at home against AS FAR, while Young Africans aim for another strong road performance when they visit tournament favorites Al Ahly in Egypt.
