On Sunday, at Wembley Stadium, Liverpool and Crystal Palace came together to honor Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota, who lost his life in a car accident in Spain on July 3.
The emotional ceremony was led by Ian Rush, a Liverpool legend, and Steve Parish, chairman of Crystal Palace, who placed a floral offering in the section of the stadium where the Reds supporters were seated. From the stands, fans unveiled a large banner in memory of the player, alongside an image of the Premier League trophy lifted by the team.
Before the start of the Community Shield match, a minute of silence was observed in Jota’s honor, moving everyone present.
