Scaloni Forgives Raphinha… But Only After Watching Argentina Destroy Brazil
Argentina didn't just win—they made a statement. The Albiceleste crushed Brazil 4-1 in Buenos Aires during the South American qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a result that doubled as a response to Raphinha’s pre-match trash talk. The Brazilian winger had claimed that his team would deliver a “beating” to Argentina “on and off the pitch.” Argentina's answer? A dominant display and a scoreboard that spoke louder than any words.
Scaloni takes the high road
After the game, Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni chose diplomacy when asked about Raphinha's comments:
“I forgive Raphinha because I know he didn’t mean it. It’s Brazil vs. Argentina—you don’t need bold statements to heat up a game like this. He was defending his team,” said Scaloni during the post-match press conference.
While Scaloni extended an olive branch, his team had already delivered the real response—on the field.
Argentina let the football do the talking
Goals from Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister, and Giuliano Simeone sealed a dominant performance for the reigning world champions. From start to finish, Argentina controlled the game, exposing Brazil’s vulnerabilities and asserting their supremacy in the CONMEBOL standings.
Midfielder Leandro Paredes echoed the team’s attitude after the final whistle:
“We speak on the pitch. It happened at the World Cup, and we did it again today.”
Even Lionel Messi, who didn’t feature in the match, chimed in with a subtle jab on social media:
“Argentina always speaks with football—on and off the field.”

A historic rivalry, a clear message
The Argentina vs Brazil rivalry has never been short of drama, tension, and heated words. But this time, Argentina chose action over talk, turning the spotlight back onto the game itself.
This crushing win not only reinforced Argentina’s lead at the top of the table—it also sent a powerful message to the rest of the continent: Raphinha talked; Argentina answered with football.
