Alianza Lima Salvages a Point in São Paulo with Quevedo’s Stunning Bicycle Kick
Alianza Lima secured a valuable point on Thursday thanks to a spectacular bicycle kick from Kevin Quevedo, as they came back from a 2-0 deficit to draw against São Paulo in a dramatic Copa Libertadores Group D match.
A first-half brace from Brazilian winger Ferreirinha in just five minutes seemed to seal victory for the Morumbi side. However, goals from Eryc Castillo and Quevedo silenced the home crowd, leaving the final score at 2-2.
This draw leaves Libertad as the sole leader of the group with six points, two ahead of São Paulo. Alianza Lima, who eliminated Boca Juniors in the preliminary phase, earned their first point, while Talleres sits at the bottom with two consecutive defeats.
São Paulo’s early dominance fades in the second half
The Peruvian side struggled in the first half but capitalized on São Paulo’s complacency after the break.
Without Oscar and Lucas Moura, their two most creative players, São Paulo found it difficult to generate fluid attacks. However, Lucas Ferreira and Ferreirinha started exploiting the wings effectively.
Luciano, playing as a second striker, played a key role in linking up plays. He assisted the opening goal in the 32nd minute, setting up Ferreirinha, who easily dribbled past Marco Huamán, entered the box, and saw his shot deflected into the net off Erick Noriega.

The Lima-based side hesitated after conceding and soon suffered another blow. This time, Marcos Antonio delivered a perfectly placed cross for Ferreirinha, who headed it home to double São Paulo’s lead in the 37th minute.
Alianza had their chances too, with veteran forward Hernán Barcos, still a threat at over 40 years old, hitting the crossbar. Quevedo also tested Rafael before halftime, but the goalkeeper made a crucial save.
A stunning comeback led by Quevedo
The second half began with a setback for São Paulo as Robert Arboleda suffered an injury, a sign of the challenges ahead.
With a 2-0 lead, São Paulo opted to sit back, a decision that ultimately backfired. Alianza Lima took advantage, and after a brilliant attacking move, Eryc Castillo finished clinically to pull one back.
The Brazilian side became nervous, and ten minutes later, Quevedo produced a moment of magic—a spectacular bicycle kick that stunned the Morumbi crowd and secured a well-earned point for the visitors.
São Paulo desperately sought a winner in the final minutes. Calleri hit the post, and Lucas Ferreira forced an incredible save from Viscarra, whose reflexes preserved the draw in a thrilling Copa Libertadores showdown.
