Barcelona SC Debuts with Victory Against Independiente del Valle
Barcelona Sporting Club started their 2025 Copa Libertadores campaign with a 1-0 victory over Independiente del Valle, at the Estadio Banco Pichincha in Guayaquil. The only goal of the match was scored by Bryan Carabalí in the 4th minute, following an assist from Octavio Rivero.
The game was affected by heavy rain in the second half, which disrupted the flow of play. Despite the adverse weather conditions, Barcelona SC held onto their lead. A key opportunity to extend their advantage came in the 69th minute, when Janner Corozo took a penalty that was saved by Independiente del Valle’s goalkeeper, Guido Villar.
With this win, Barcelona SC earned their first three points in Group B, which also includes River Plate from Argentina and Universitario de Deportes from Peru. In the next match, Barcelona SC, led by Segundo Castillo, will face River Plate in Buenos Aires, while Independiente del Valle will host Universitario in Quito.
