LDU Quito and Flamengo share points in the 2025 Copa Libertadores
Flamengo tried everything they could, while LDU Quito opted for long-range shots — probably hoping the ball would move a bit more at 2,850 meters above sea level in the Ecuadorian capital. But neither side could break the deadlock at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium, with a 0-0 draw that leaves the home side in a better position in Group C of the Copa Libertadores.
Flamengo pushed, LDU stayed patient
The Rio giants were on the front foot most of the match, even bringing on fresh legs from the bench, and at times it felt like they were playing at home. Still, they left with just one point, now sitting on 5 in the group standings.
Meanwhile, LDU Quito were happy to sit back and wait for Flamengo to make a mistake. Their more conservative game plan paid off, and with this result, they stay top of the group with 6 points from a possible 9. The Ecuadorians stayed compact and handled Fla’s constant attacks well, frustrating them with solid defending and capitalizing on their lack of finishing.
Group C heating up
Group C wraps up its third round this Thursday when Central Córdoba, currently with 4 points, host bottom-placed Deportivo Táchira, who are still looking for their first point, at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.
Matchday 4 kicks off on May 7, with Deportivo Táchira hosting LDU Quito, while Central Córdoba will welcome Flamengo. With how tight the group is, the battle for the two spots in the round of 16 is shaping up to be a real nail-biter.
