Racing Crushes Colo Colo in Avellaneda and Knocks Them Out of All CONMEBOL Competitions
Colo Colo played their last chance to stay alive in CONMEBOL competitions against Racing at El Cilindro in Avellaneda, during Matchday 5 of the CONMEBOL Libertadores. However, they failed to capitalize on it, suffering a heavy defeat in Argentina.

First Half Dominated by Racing and Highlighted by Adrián Martínez
In the first half, the Chilean side knew exactly what was at stake and went out in search of the opening goal. But Gabriel Arias was in inspired form and stopped every attempt Colo Colo made to break the deadlock.
Racing made the most of their momentum, and in the 36th minute, Adrián Martínez headed home after a poorly executed shot from a teammate. At the 45th minute, the Argentine striker struck again, tapping the ball into the net following a solid save by Bryan Cortés.
With these goals, El Maravilla became Racing’s second all-time top scorer in international competitions with 14 goals, just one behind Norberto Farro.
Colo Colo's Meltdown Sealed Their Elimination
In the second half, Colo Colo came out lacking focus, and in the 51st minute, Santiago Solari scored the goal that had eluded him in the first half. Eleven minutes later, Arturo Vidal lost his temper and, after provoking the Racing supporters, was shown a second yellow card and sent off. To cap off a dream night at El Cilindro, Adrián Balboa scored the fourth goal for the Argentine side, sealing the rout.
The match ended 4–0 in favor of Racing, a result that puts them at the top of Group E and sends them through to the next round of the Libertadores, while Colo Colo is officially eliminated from all Sudamericana playoff contention.
