These Are the Three Venues Managed by CONMEBOL for the 2025 Copa Libertadores
The decision on where the final of the 2025 Copa Libertadores will be held will be announced next month
On Monday, March 17th, the draw for the group stage of the 2025 Copa Libertadores took place at the CONMEBOL headquarters in the city of Luque (Paraguay). The 32 participating teams now know who their first opponents will be. However, we still don’t know which venue will host the final on November 29, 2025.

Will the Libertadores final return to Montevideo?
According to Ignacio Alonso, president of the Uruguayan Football Association, the federation proposed Montevideo as the venue to host the final of the 2025 Copa Libertadores. It is a legendary venue for South America's premier club competition, having hosted up to eight finals. The first in 1968 and the most recent in 2021.
“We’re eager to host a big event in Montevideo again,” said Ignacio Alonso in an interview with ‘El Espectador’ ahead of the group stage draw for the 2025 Copa Libertadores. The last major final held in Uruguay, remember, was the 2023 Copa Sudamericana final, which was originally supposed to be held in Montevideo but was moved to Maldonado.
Lima and Brasilia also present bids
At first glance, it seems Montevideo is a strong candidate for CONMEBOL to decide to bring a Copa Libertadores final to Uruguay four years later. If chosen, it would be the second city in South America after Rio de Janeiro (2020 and 2023) to be designated as the venue for a Copa América final since the format change in 2019.
However, there are two other bids gaining momentum. On one hand, Lima, which already hosted the final between River and Flamengo in 2019; and on the other hand, Brasilia, which has never hosted a Copa Libertadores final. All proposals will be carefully evaluated so that a final decision on where the final will be played can be made next month.
