Everaldo and Cano Braces Lead Fluminense to Victory Over Gualberto Villarroel in Copa Sudamericana
In the second matchday of Group F in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, Fluminense lived up to expectations with a commanding performance over Gualberto Villarroel at the iconic Maracanã Stadium. The Brazilian side asserted their dominance from the opening whistle.

Everaldo Opens the Scoring With a Brace and a Stunning Bicycle Kick
From the outset, the Carioca squad controlled the tempo of the game, but it wasn’t until the 20th minute that the deadlock was broken. It was Everaldo who struck first, launching a powerful shot into the top left corner to put Fluminense ahead.
Not satisfied with just one, the Brazilian striker dazzled the home crowd again in the 44th minute, finishing off a brilliant move with a spectacular half-bicycle kick that left the visiting keeper with no chance. With that brace, Fluminense went into halftime comfortably leading.
Cano Caps Off the Night with Another Double
The second half followed the same pattern, with Fluminense in full control. In the 59th minute, Steven added a third goal, virtually sealing the result. However, the evening wouldn’t be complete without the signature contribution of the team’s attacking leader.
Argentine striker Germán Cano delivered just that. He found the back of the net twice—first in the 72nd minute and again in the 78th—matching Everaldo’s effort and underlining his importance in the Flu offensive scheme.
With the emphatic win, Fluminense now sits atop Group F with six points from two matches. Meanwhile, San José Gualberto remains at the bottom of the table, still searching for their first points. In the next round, the Brazilian club will visit Unión Española, while the Bolivian side will host Once Caldas.
