Fortaleza and Corinthians Set Up Dramatic Second Leg
Fortaleza and Corinthians played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in their all-Brazilian semifinal clash in the Copa Sudamericana. The series will be decided in the upcoming second leg match.
Under the guidance of Argentine coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda, Fortaleza dominated the first half and took the lead with a goal from Jose Welison. However, Corinthians, led by the former Brazilian national team manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo, managed to equalize before halftime, thanks to Yuri Alberto's strike.
The return leg, scheduled for October 3rd at Fortaleza's Castelão Stadium, will determine which Brazilian team secures a historic spot in the Sudamericana final. The winner will face the victor of the series between Liga de Quito and Defensa y Justicia.
