Montevideo City Torque Seeks the Epic Against Atlético Mineiro
Montevideo City Torque is going for the epic against Atlético Mineiro, they need to overturn a 0-3 to play in the final
Montevideo City Torque will seek an epic comeback this Wednesday in their match against Atlético Mineiro in the final 90 minutes of a semifinal series that has the Brazilians leading 3-0 and with one foot in the final.
The historic Centenario stadium in Montevideo will witness a clash that will kick off at 19:00 local time and will decide which team will face the winner of the series between Boca Juniors and Vasco da Gama on November 21 in Barranquilla.
Montevideo City will approach the match in the middle of a historic campaign, which took them to be among the four best teams in an international tournament for the first time in their history and to be the best Uruguayan team of 2026 in Conmebol competitions.
However, they will step onto the field in their worst moment of a season that had them until last weekend as leaders of the Uruguayan Torneo Clausura, where they had accumulated seven unbeaten matchdays and in which they only managed to collect four points from the last 15 available.
Atlético Mineiro, comfortable with the lead and eyeing revenge
On the other side, Atlético Mineiro will play comfortably thanks to the first-leg result and with their focus on taking quick revenge after falling to Lanús in the final of the Copa Sudamericana 2025.
Likewise, the Brazilian side will arrive at the clash with three wins and one draw in their last four league matches, where they sit sixth and very close to the Copa Libertadores 2027 positions.
Probable lineups and the ticket to Barranquilla
With at least one change in the starting eleven in which a center-back will leave the team to make way for another forward, the Uruguayan side would play with Franco Torgnascioli; Eduardo Agüero, Gary Kagelmacher, Kevin Silva, Facundo Silvera; Gonzalo Montes, Pablo Siles, Franco Pizzichillo; Braian Andrade or Nahuel da Silva, Salomón Rodríguez and Esteban Obregón.
Meanwhile, Atlético Mineiro would line up with Gabriel Delfim; Alan Franco, Vitao, Lyanco, Ronan Lodi; Maycon, Kevin Castaño; Tomás Cuello, Víctor Hugo, Bernard and Reiner.
Thus, Uruguayans and Brazilians will look to seal their ticket to Barranquilla to play the final there in pursuit of a title both want to win for the first time.
