All Goals From Real Madrid's Comeback Against Leganes in the Copa del Rey
Real Madrid struggled more than expected but secured their spot in the Copa del Rey semifinals with a dramatic last-minute goal from academy player Gonzalo García in the 93rd minute, sealing a 2-3 victory over Leganés, who came close to forcing extra time.
Carlo Ancelotti's team started strong at Butarque, quickly taking the lead with a goal from Luka Modric in the 18th minute and another from Brazilian forward Endrick in the 25th. The young striker, continuing to showcase his talent in his first season with the club, latched onto a through ball and finished with composure.
Leganés, however, refused to give up and fought back, finding their first goal in the 39th minute when Juan Cruz converted a penalty to cut the deficit before halftime. In the second half, Cruz struck again in the 58th minute, igniting the Butarque crowd and putting Real Madrid under serious pressure.
Just when extra time seemed inevitable, Gonzalo García stepped up in stoppage time (93') with a precise header to score the decisive goal. The academy player, who came on in the final minutes, became the unexpected hero and secured Real Madrid’s place in the next round.
