Are Rotations Coming for Real Madrid? Here’s What Ancelotti Says
Carlo Ancelotti, head coach of Real Madrid, confirmed in a press conference his intention to make rotations for the upcoming Copa del Rey round-of-32 match against Deportiva Minera, scheduled for Monday. Despite the planned changes, the Italian manager emphasized the importance of respecting the opponent, the jersey, and the competition.
Strategic Rotations
Ancelotti announced that some regular starters will not travel, notably Thibaut Courtois and Antonio Rüdiger. However, he clarified that the rest of the squad will be included, and the match presents an opportunity to give playing time to less utilized players.
"Courtois and Rüdiger won't travel, but the others will, and they may play. Considering we played recently, I want to give minutes to players who have had fewer opportunities," Ancelotti stated.
The coach reiterated that the Copa del Rey remains a priority for Real Madrid and highlighted the joy the competition has brought to the club in recent years.
"The Copa del Rey won’t be a problem as long as you're still in it; it becomes one when you're out because Real Madrid aims to compete in every tournament. Playing the Copa final is a beautiful experience, and the goal, as always, is to reach it," he affirmed.
Respect for the Opponent
Ancelotti underscored the need to stay focused and show respect to the opposition, reminding his players that underestimating any team could lead to dangerous outcomes.
"We approach the match with our usual enthusiasm because this is an important competition that has brought us a lot of happiness in recent years. We will respect our opponent, the jersey, and the competition," he concluded.
With rotations on the horizon, the match against Deportiva Minera will serve as a test for Real Madrid’s depth as they continue their pursuit of another Copa del Rey title.
