Barcelona welcome Dani Olmo back ahead of Copa del Rey final vs Real Madrid
Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo has been given the medical green light after recovering from a muscle injury he picked up on March 27. He’ll be available for Tuesday’s huge Champions League quarter-final second leg clash against Borussia Dortmund.
Key boost for a crucial stretch
The Spanish international suffered a myofascial injury in his right adductor during a LaLiga EA Sports match against Osasuna, and missed the team’s last five games — four wins and one draw. His return comes at the perfect time for manager Hansi Flick, with Barça fighting for a Champions League semi-final spot and preparing to face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final on April 26. In between, they’ll also face Celta Vigo (April 19) and Mallorca (April 22) in league play.
Back in action, while others remain sidelined
While Olmo’s return is great news, it’s a different story for Alejandro Balde, who picked up a distal hamstring injury on Saturday and joins the growing injury list that includes Marc-André ter Stegen, Marc Casadó, and Marc Bernal — key absences for the coaching staff. At 26, Dani Olmo was one of Barça’s big summer signings. Despite injury setbacks this season, he’s managed 28 appearances, scoring 8 goals and providing 5 assists.
